# British Music Embassy Returns With Two-Night Showcase at SXSW London

The British Music Embassy (BME) has announced its return to SXSW London for 2026 with an exclusive two-night showcase at Devonshire Square, running 7 PM to 11 PM on Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3.

## The Lineup

**Tuesday, June 2:**
- Nadine Shah — Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter known for politically charged art-rock
- Michael Aldag — rising pop storyteller and social media native
- Venus Grrrls — feminist alt-rock band from Leeds
- Young Rebel Set — indie rock seven-piece from Stockton-on-Tees

**Wednesday, June 3:**
- Future Utopia — Fraser T Smith's genre-blending collaborative project
- CQ Wrestling — emerging indie outfit
- Precious Pepala — Sheffield-born pop-R&B vocalist
- Daytime TV — alt-rock band making waves on the UK circuit

## British Music Embassy Legacy

Now in its 19th year, the BME has been a fixture at SXSW Austin since 2008, launching over 700 UK acts including Sam Fender, Little Simz, and Wolf Alice. The London edition extends this legacy to the UK capital itself.

The showcase is a major industry collaboration backed by the Department for Business and Trade, PPL, PRS for Music, the BPI, British Council, UK Music, PRS Foundation, and the Northern Music Export Office.

## Northern Music Export Office Launch

Tuesday will also mark the official launch of the Northern Music Export Office at the BME. A panel hosted by BBC Radio 1's Maia Beth, featuring Generator and four Northern Mayors, will explore how regional collaboration and cultural investment are reshaping the UK music industry outside London.

## Why It Matters

- The BME showcases represent a cross-section of UK music funded by both government and industry bodies, signaling continued public-private investment in music export
- Hosting the showcase at SXSW London rather than only Austin brings UK talent development full circle
- The Northern Music Export Office launch highlights an active push to decentralize the UK music industry from London

Production is provided by Production Park, with full accessibility for all SXSW London badge-holders and music festival pass-holders.

## Key Takeaways

- 8 UK acts across two nights, spanning indie rock, art-rock, pop, and alt-R&B
- Nadine Shah headlines Tuesday; Future Utopia headlines Wednesday
- Northern Music Export Office launches at the event to drive regional talent development
- Backed by the UK's full music industry and government infrastructure
