Jane Schoenbrun's 'Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma' to Close SXSW London Screen Program
Jane Schoenbrun's _Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma_, starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, will close the Screen Festival component of SXSW London in June.
The film arrives in London fresh from its world premiere as the opening film of the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard strand, ahead of its August release by Mubi in the US, UK, and Ireland.
The Film
The Plan B and Mubi co-production stars Einbinder as a filmmaker remaking a cult slasher film who becomes obsessed with the idea of casting the original picture's "final girl," played by Anderson. It is Schoenbrun's third feature after the acclaimed horror films We're All Going to the World's Fair and I Saw the TV Glow.
"Jane Schoenbrun has been building one of the most fascinating bodies of work in cinema today," said Screen Festival Head Anna Bogutskaya. "Every scene between Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson was so charged I was afraid the screen might catch fire."
World Premieres
The Screen Program also announced four world premieres:
- The Playoffs (Dir: Bruno Safadi) — Brazilian series starring Cauã Reymond
- The Boy With the Light-Blue Eyes (Dir: Thanasis Neofotistos) — Greek genre-fluid folktale
- Test (Dir: Sam McConnell) — portrait of an amateur bodybuilder in rural Ohio
- James – Getting Away With It (Dir: Chris Atkins) — documentary on the Manchester band James
UK Premieres
Additional UK premieres include Olivia Wilde's _The Invite_ (starring Wilde alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz), Sofia Coppola's documentary _Marc by Sofia_ about longtime collaborator Marc Jacobs, and a Special Screening collaboration with Silents Synced presenting a re-scored edition of the 1928 silent classic The Man Who Laughs with music from The Cure.
SXSW London runs June 1–6, 2026.
