In adopting artificial intelligence, news organizations are making starkly different choices about when and how to use the technology. Which is great, because we can compare and contrast each approach, to identify some early best practices. Zach Seward, who leads the A.I. Initiatives team at The New York Times, will present those findings across a wide range of compelling — and sometimes really terrible — uses of A.I. for journalism. He will also offer a look at how The Times is using A.I. to bolster the human expertise of its newsroom, while discovering new forms of reporting.
