Secret Mall Apartment premiered at SXSW in 2024.  Though a festival smash the documentary did not get acquired by a distributor. Undeterred, filmmaker Jeremy Workman raised $100k independently to self-release the film in theaters. The documentary went on to gross nearly 1MM in box office, playing in nearly 250 cities for nearly 6 months, and was subsequently acquired by Netflix where it entered the Netflix Top 10 on its first day. Workman and his team utilized both traditional and innovative approaches to upend the playing field. Look behind the curtain and learn how they pulled it off!
