On their debut EP ‘The Weight,’ the Lafayette, Louisiana, four-piece reaches full definition, distilling themes of desire, insecurity, and disconnection into five tightly wound, melody-driven songs released by Julia’s War Recordings, the legendary Philly label founded by Doug Dulgarian of TAGABOW. Across the EP, bandleader Kylie Gaspard’s deeply direct vocal delivery cuts through dense riffs, grounding their songs with her gritty, emotional lyrics. Having recently shared stages with genre titans like Dinosaur Jr., Whirr, Nothing, and Narrow Head, Cashier are building a reputation for a massive sound that resonates far beyond their bayou home.
